My parents are very prominent in everything that I touch today.  The good memories will never leave me. They both sacrificed in multiple ways for us to have a better life than they knew.  The values that are instilled in me are because of them.  The tinge of sadness that they are gone is overshadowed by the joys of their life.  Dad enjoyed writing.  But he enjoyed the joy that it brought to others more that he did the writing.  A good joke lives in the light of sharing it with others.  So, this site is dedicated to the sharing of his writings with those who will enjoy them.

America is aging at a fast pace.  I know I’m in that race which has come all too quickly.  I’m amazed and somewhat sad that so many men and women with life experience and wealth of knowledge are wasting away with little or no useful purpose.  I’ve discovered through the church a host of volunteers who contribute so much.  Finding a useful purpose as we age is so important to each of us.  So this site is devoted to being a cheer leader for aging persons.

I’m serving this fine congregation for the second time.  I was pastor here in 2000 for 3 years.  I came back at their request in 2008.  I’ve entered the arena of ‘greening’ because this is my first time as a re-cycled pastor.

We began a project several months ago to preserve the pictures and historical documents of our church which is on the brink of celebrating 125 years of life.  So, this blog is devoted to preserving these documents, but also presenting them for your viewing.  They are organized in an easy format for viewing.  If you aren’t familiar with the format of a blog post, you soon will be.  The most recent post heads the list, and you scroll through the documents to find the subject that interests you.

I’ve met many wonderful and interesting people in my life.  All that I have of them is a mental image.  There are many of those folks that I would like to have recorded them so I could listen once in a while to their voice, and visually see them.  In recent years I’ve interviewed a number of people, first by audio, and in recent days by video.  This blog is devoted to link you to a video or an audio of those persons that I believe will enrich you as they have me.

The Fellowship Group Baptist Church owns the property where First Baptist meets.  The ownership was transferred to them several years ago.  Before they purchased the property they met with us for 3 years.  I’ve known many of these folks for more than 20 years.  I’ve had the opportunity to video several of their Christmas Concerts.  This links you to a plethora of glad tidings musically.

Some years ago I got interested in the medium of television.  I did a doctoral project and wrote a project report on implementing a cable television program in a rural community.  I still have an interest in the medium of the internet using video.  Many of the videos that I’ve done were just for fun.  So, as you view these have as fun watching as I did in videoing.

I know the title sounds strange, but churches like people are alive and have personality.  I’ve been blessed to serve as pastor of the churches listed on this website.  None of them have been perfect.  We were a perfect match however, because of my imperfections.  There were difficult times in each one, mostly of my own making.  However, the good shines so brightly in these congregations that any dark days were just overcast  days.  Just as this website is a work in progress so was the journey that I made through the warm embrace of each one of these congregations.
